FOR SALE 08/11/08: 1996 Santana Cilantro. Used, very tenderly, for about 5 years, but has had little use since. The paint and all decals are in very good condition. There are a few chips and a small ding. I'll be glad to send close up photo's showing all components and less than perfect areas. The Captains top tube is 58CM center to center. The seat tube 55CM C to C. Stokers seat tube is 52 C to C. I'm 6'1 my wife 5'6 and the bike is an excellent fit. All components are original as spec'd by Santana in '96. We've added a computer and Blackburn rack. Pedals now on it are just flat pedals for moving it around. I'll be glad to send full details with pix upon request. The bike is in Eugene, OR for the balance of August. If not sold locally, we will be taking it back to Florida in our motor home. FOR SALE 08/08/08: For Sale 1995 Santana Encore Tandem. This is a lightweight aluminum tandem that we have owed since 1996. Great tandem for a shorter captain. Size small good for captains 5'2" to 5'6". The good: The tandem shifts, handles and performs excellently. We rode it a lot at first, less in the last few years. I have maintained it and upgraded the components over the years. Most wear items have been replaced. Light! 34 pounds Ultegra 9 speed shifters and derailleurs. Shimano at its best 26” Wheels with Edco hubs. They have been re-built with FIR rims. They have been bulletproof. Topline crankset with updated 9 speed Raceface 54-44-32 chainrings with ramps to help shifting. This is a rare lightweight crank. New chain. Shimano 12-27 9speed cassette New Panaracer Pasaela TG 26x1.25" tire. These are great! Hard to come by but light. They are wider tan 1" tires and hold up very well. Kevlar beaded and belted. Updated Front Stem. I also have a 9cm stem if you need. Selle Italia captain saddle, Terry Fly stokers. I have other saddles we could swap out. Zoom seapost front, post modern rear Look pedals front and rear. The not so good: Paint. We had this repainted a few years back and it looks great from 5 feet away but there is some chipping, quite a bit around the rear driveside chainstay. As this is a aluminum frame, rust is not an issue. If I can find it I may even have some touch up paint. Dinging noise: For years now the bike makes a dinging noise while riding. We have tried everything to find it. In is not in the hub or the wheels or the drive train--that has all been completely replaced. My current theory it is a cable banging on the frame. No effect at all on the performance of the tandem. If you are looking to get a premium tandem at a low price this is it. A new encore is over $5000. It has served my wife and I well for many years and has many more years in it. We are selling it as we got a custom Comotion Speedster. Let me know if you have any questions. I can also email pics.

FOR SALE 07/24/08: 11 month old Orange Burley Rumba for sale, 2006 was the last year Burley made tandems and we bought this from Dublin Cyclery in August 2007 new. We've made some nice modifications to this bike. We've replaced the tires with Jack Brown 33.3mm tires that are larger than the standard 28mm it came with so the ride is smooth and stable. We also put on a small Nitto rear rack, and moustache handlebars front and back with bar end shifters. The stoker handlebar has a nice adjuster we added to easily allow the stoker to get the height of the handlebar just right. We also replaced the front stem with a taller stem. The bike is in good shape and has always been garaged. We are selling it becuase it's alittle too small for the captain. I'm 6-2, and my wife is 5-4, She fits fine, but it's a couple of inches too small for me. So to fit on this bike, the captain should be 6 ft or smaller. Size is front 56cm rear 48cm. FOR SALE 07/08/08: FSA Mega-Exo - stoker crank (unused) or stoker and captain crank. I bought a Periscope Triplet in February, but never installed the stoker Mega-Exo crankset/bb (in lieu of a Davinci Super Gucci). The middle set has been installed, but has never had pedals in it (I use it with a kid stoker setup for my now 20-month son) - it does have a couple of scratches on the bottoms of each arm from where it has touched ground a time or two. I have the 53/39/30 FSA rings to go with the stoker set - the 30 is unused (used a 24 from Day 1), the 53 nearly unused (too big), and the 39 has about 200 miles on it. I switched to 110bcd rings (34/46) after maybe 6 weeks. I am using both timing rings and the chainring bolts. I'd like to get 2/3 of retail for the stoker/bb (new, never used). If you are interested in a full set (middle/stoker) I'd like 1/2 of retail for the middle crank/bb. I have this setup in the captain spot and am very pleased with the stiffness and function. It is the first crank of this type I've used and it is noticeably stiffer than traditional cranks. But the rear is just a spare part and I'm willing to sell the middle also if you want a full set (I'd rather get another Super Gucci for kid flexibility). FOR SALE 06/05/08: I've recently purchased a slightly used (less then 500 mi according to the origional owner)21sp Burley Bossa Nova and had it converted to 27sp at my LBS. the LBS sold some of the old parts for me before I picked the bike up but I have two important parts left. They are unblemished and look like they just came out of the box. One is a 140mm, 48 spoke, 51mm spread between flanges, sealed bearing Suzue rear hub threaded on both sides for both a casette and drag brake. It has a thru-bolt with nuts on both ends istead of a skewer (for whatever reason) and is extremely smooth when turned. The second is a 7sp Suntour XC PRO Accushift-Plus rear derailer in equally unused codition. If any of you retro folks have a use for these parts I'm sure we can agree on a price -- but my LBS told me not to give them away as they apparently haven't been made in years.

This bike was built in 1994. Burley quit making tandems in 2006, at which time this model sold for $2,300. We bought the Burley one year ago to replace a cheap entry-level bike and have ridden just over 1000 very happy miles on it. During that time, the bike has been professionally maintained (LBS) and maticulously cleaned and lubed (me). We are replacing it with a high-end S&S coupled tandem. FOR SALE 03/20/08: 59x59cm (ctot) Mike Melton Road Tandem. 58 cm front top tube, 62 cm rear top tube. Ishiwata tandem tubing, lugless fillet brazing that is impeccable. This bike was made in 1979 as a custom for me. One loving owner, only. Recessed seat pin bolts! I would love to sell the complete bike and can provide lots of photos if requested. The frame/fork (with Campagnolo Record (steel) headset is also available. In brief: Lots of braze-ons for Mafac cantilever brakes (w/Matthauser shoes) water bottle mounts, rack mounts (rear only). Extended (slightly) seat tubes front and rear, 27.0 mm. I have outfitted this bike with a Campagnolo front brake mounted rearwards on the front fork with a drop bolt....so, it has tons of stopping power with the front brakes, while the rear cantilever is operated by the stoker. Phil Wood Tandem disc hub rear and tandem front hub are 48 hole, laced with DT 14 gauge spokes onto 27" Super champion 27 x 1 1/8 rims. I have used Specialized Armadillo tires for a couple of years and they have been outstanding. Shimano long cage (crane) rear derailleur (old Dura Ace model) and Campagnolo record front derailleur. Campagnolo NR bottom brackets installed in the concentrics, with a Shimano biopzce triple crankset on the stoker drive side...the other three cranks are Sugino. This bike can be had with or without the Campy SL< road and track pedal pairs...I would assume most have their own preference for pedals! This is a road tandem and is shorter than modern tandems in the rear, so, as expected, it is very fast and yet, very stable....stiffer than heck, which is a good thing with tandems! I am married again and my wife needs a 55 or 54 cm size, and this bike just does not fit her! So...we are going to ride singles for a while! Please call or write if interested. FOR SALE 03/02/08: Tandem Wheel set (26inch MTB)These came off my Ibis Tandem. the front is an XT hub with Mavic 117 SUP rim, 34 spokes. it has a few miles, but braking surfaces are very very good condition, and the wheel runs straight and true. The rear has a hard-to-find EDCO swiss made tandem hub (same as Hugi)with 145mm spacing and spin-on for Araya drum brake. Grease ports as you can see in the pictures keep it running smooth, but this definitely a life-time hub. Rim is super reliable Araya RM 17 with 38 spokes, also in great condition. Freewheel is the 7 speed type, and may not work with 8/9 speed drive trains. Some folks prefer this because of the wide range cassettes available. If you are building a new tandem, I can make a deal which includes 7/8 speed shifters as well. All of my stuff is in Excellent/like new condition. Pictures available, but come see them in person.

Size is adjustable to fit saddle heights from about 25” to 35” for the captain and 18” to 32 for the stoker. Effective top tube length is 22.5” for the captain and 27” for the stoker. This is a super quick and trouble free tandem. Instead of problematic Shimano STI (for tandem use) this is equipped with Dura Ace bar end shifters connected to Ultegra front and XT rapid rise rear derailleurs. Shifting is consistantly flawless. Other components include Chris King headset, Ultegra brakes, FSA Carbon Pro Team Issue 175-170 cranks with 32, 44, 55 chainrings and an 11 - 34 cassette. Sizes, measured center to top of seat tube are, 56/52/46. The top tubes are, ctoc, 54/70/70. The front standover Ht. 29”, which is great for holding up everyone when you stop. I had my 10 year old in the last position, thinking that as he grew I could move him to the middle and my wife to the end, that way we would be able to use the bike for many years. We are 5’11”, 5’5”, 4’11” tall. We’ve done lots of 50 mile rides with this bike and even a 65 miler and it has been fun. Thinking I want a sub 45 lb. Bike so we can blow by people on the up hills too. The derailleurs shift smoothly and the 8” mechanical discs stop great. Has V-brake bosses if you would want even more braking power, although, I don’t think it needs them. Does needs tires tho. FOR SALE 08/27/07: It is with heavy heart that I offer my triplet for sale. My son, shortly after I got the bike, decided that he prefered his solo bike and now won't ride the triplet. It is a Co-Motion Periscope Trident. For those of you not familiar, both the stoker and the tail gunner have double seat posts, so it will accommodate a huge range of sizes. It is custom with the following very important changes. The top tube length is between the two stock offered at 21.5 inches (55cm). It has custom paint (ferrari red with vanilla panels). It has two S and S couplers so it will "break in half". It has one super adjustable stoker stem. Last and absolutely not least, it has 700c wheels. The stock models are 26".
