Wilbur's Bed

Wilbur will make a bed out of almost anything when its cold. We have found that with enough available straw, he won't destroy the ferns and flowers. This is a picture of his latest bed. It began as a one-ton round bail of hay which he bored his way into. As the horses ate away at it, he found himself more and more exposed to the dreaded elements. The horses are now fed elsewhere so Wilbur can sleep in peace. We provide him a few bails of straw every six months for building material. I think he does eat the straw if he gets hungry at night. Maybe he's just too lazy to get up to find food. When it gets below 40 deg. outside, he does manage to cover himself completly.
